Restoration of a traditional house
Project: Restoration of a stone building of 86 m2
Location: Tripiti, Milos
Year: 2003
The house was built from stone around 1860 in the traditional village of Tripiti, on a small plot of 97 m2. Due to the steep slope, the house is developed in two levels, with no internal communication. The first level was used as a living room, the second level as a kitchen and bedrooms, lacking the existence of a bathroom.
The goals of the study were to rearrange the interior of the house in order to make it more functional as a modern home and to deal with the damages the building has acquired, due to it’s age and it’s long period of neglect. The respect to the original structure and materials was a strong parameter during this study.
